Keeping you close is a series of still lifes and self-portraits that provide insight into the artist's personal journey of loss and identity. The still lifes depict objects carefully selected and preserved after the passing of the artist’s father, reflecting the intrusive quality in rummaging through another’s personal items when determining what to keep and what to part with. The self-portraits present the artist incorporating her father's clothing into her own wardrobe, symbolizing a tangible connection to his presence, while revealing the layered dynamics of loss and grief.
